Ducks All Round
April 07, 2009

I have been working on images taken in the last twelve months lately and came across this lovely one of some Whistling Ducks at Mangkatjarra Wetlands near Derby.
The purple lilies were in their millions and gave the ducks a vivid environment. The same day i came across this image i was returning from photographing the Roebuck Plains about 50km outside of Broome, and rescued 10 baby Whistling ducklings that had no mum in site and thought that the middle of the road was a good stopping place. They are currently safe and sound in my bathroom where they are getting used to constant attention. As soon as i have some nice photographs of these cuties i shall post them as a news item.
Storm Approaching Broome
March 19, 2009

Yesterday saw a spectacular storm approaching Broome from the east. This is where most of the action comes from in this area.
I raced up to Kennedy Hill in the centre of town to photograph the approaching storm. The waters of Dampier Creek and Roebuck Bay were still in sunshine, showing their fantastic turquoise colours just before the sun was hidden by the encroaching clouds. This photograph was taken shortly before the wind hit, filling lenses, camera bag and this Broome photographers various crevices with fine red sand. Rod H.
